Editorial Policy

How we create, review, and update legal content — our commitment to accuracy and E-E-A-T.

Legal content is high-stakes — wrong information can cause real harm. RightToLegal holds its content to the same rigorous standard as peer-reviewed medical and financial counterparts. This page explains who writes our content, how it is reviewed, and how we keep it current.

1

Who Writes Our Content

All substantive legal articles on RightToLegal are authored or co-authored by practising advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of India or a State Bar Council. Our author requirements:

Minimum LLB degree from a recognised university
Active Bar Council enrolment (verified enrollment number displayed on articles)
Minimum 3 years of active practice in the relevant area of law
Author biography with name, qualifications, Bar number, and LinkedIn profile
2

Editorial Review Process

1
Drafting

Article drafted by a qualified advocate with citations to Bare Acts, court judgments (IndianKanoon/SCC Online), and official government sources.

2
Legal Review

A senior advocate (10+ years' experience) in the relevant practice area reviews for legal accuracy, currency of law, and jurisdictional correctness.

3
Editorial Check

Our editorial team checks for clarity, compliance with Bar Council Rule 36 (no misleading claims), and DPDPA 2023 compliance.

4
Publication

Published with visible publication date, last reviewed date, author byline, reviewer credit, and Bar Council registration numbers.

3

Citation Standards

Every legal claim is backed by a primary source. We cite:

  • Bare Acts — BNS 2023, BNSS 2023, BSA 2023, CrPC 1973 (for transitional matters), IPC 1860, Hindu Marriage Act 1955, RTI Act 2005, and other relevant legislation
  • Court judgments — Supreme Court and High Court decisions linked to IndianKanoon.org or SCC Online
  • Government circulars and notifications — linked to official Government of India / Ministry / Court websites
4

Update Policy

Indian law evolves rapidly — especially since the introduction of BNS, BNSS, and BSA in July 2024. Our update commitments:

Pillar pages reviewed every 6 months or immediately after significant legislative amendments
Breaking legal news (new Supreme Court judgments) published within 48 hours
Every article shows a "Last reviewed" date and a "Next review scheduled" date
Reader-flagged errors corrected within 5 business days
5

Bar Council Compliance

We strictly follow Bar Council of India Rules, Chapter II, Part VI, Rule 36:

  • No claims of guaranteed results or success rates
  • No comparative advertising or claims of superiority
  • All descriptions of advocates are factual and verifiable
  • Disclaimer boxes on every substantive article
6

Corrections Policy

We take accuracy seriously. If you believe any article contains a factual or legal error, email us at editorial@righttolegal.com with the page URL and the specific correction. We will investigate and, if confirmed, correct the error and note the correction at the bottom of the article. We do not silently delete errors — corrections are transparent.

7

Advertising & Independence

Editorial content is independent from commercial relationships. Advocates who pay for placement in our network do not influence article content or legal analysis. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly labelled "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" and is not presented as editorial content.
